Crossfade2 Wireless Headphones Design and Build

If you’re familiar with V-MODA’s design, the Crossfade2 Wireless will look familiar to you. These have the hexagon shaped earcups. They have a very modern sleek look with the narrow hexagon shape and the all-black-everything style. The shields on each ear cup can be replaced with customized shields, that you order from V-MODA’s website.

Experience and Features

Comfort

The Crossfade 2 Wireless aren’t for everyone. These are a bit on the heavier side. And while the headband is better than the previous one, it’s still a bit tight. The tight fit with the added weight may cause discomfort after wearing them for a long period of time. It wasn’t anything too crazy. I would find myself adjusting them after every 30 minutes or so. The pads are comfy and breathable. The headband is flexible too, so I stretch it a little before placing them on for a long listening session. Seems to help a bit.

Sound and Connectivity

V-MODA has a reputation for great sound, and the Crossfade2 Wireless headphones are no different. Bass-y music lovers will enjoy how these headphones handle bass-heavy music. You’ll be thumpin’ with the bass on these. It’s just smooth. These deliver great highs as well. Listening to a few trap and EDM tracks, I was jammin’ out. Mids and lows are okay. Not muddled either. V-MODA hasn’t failed when it comes to sound.

You can use these cans wired or wirelessly. If you’re in the wireless headphone world, you hear the bluetooth connectivity options being thrown around, such as Qualcomm’s aptX codec support. Unfortunately, aptX is only included in one colorway of the Crossfade 2 wireless, and that’s the black with rose gold accents version. Why? I don’t know! Very upsetting as phones are providing aptX connectivity and wireless headphones are my personal preference. The phones I used the headphones with having it ( Google Pixel 2 XL and LG V30).

The Crossfade2 Wireless don’t provide noise-canceling technology. So you’ll have to rely on the ear cups for noise isolation. They do a pretty good job of it though. But most headphones that are $300+ offer noise canceling capabilities. I understand not wanting to hinder the sound quality, but at that price point, it should definitely be an option.

Battery Life

V-MODA says the Crossfade II Wireless should last 14 hours. I went a good 12 hours no problem. You can still use the Crossfade2 Wireless with the cable, once the battery has run out.

Pricing and Availability

The Crossfade2 Wireless run from $320 – $350, depending on the color you get.  The black and rose gold version cost more ($350) and they have the AptX codec. If you buy them from V-MODA you get shields for free

Verdict

If you want dope looking headphones that sound great too, you are going wanna pick these up. You’ll definitely enjoy the full sound and how great they look. If you’re going to use them wirelessly, I suggest getting the Rose gold and black version for the Aptx for future proofing your tech.
