Google Photos Adds Memories and Print Order Features to App

Google Photos has been around for a few years now. One of my must-have apps, Google Photos is a great way to store, sort, and share photos digitally.

Today, Google Photos has added more features to the app. They have even added an easier way to print photos from the app. These are the features rolling out today

Memories: A digital version of a walk down memory lane of your private photos – rolling out today on Android and iOS. With memories, Google Photos will show pictures of the same week during prior years. Memories will go back as far as your dates go. Yes, you can hide certain people from memories, so they won’t pop up unexpectedly.

Streamlined Sharing: Sharing photos with others is the fun part of events. In the coming months, it’ll be even easier to send photos directly to your friends or family within the app. Those photos will now be added to an ongoing, private conversation so there’s one place to find the photos you’ve shared with each other and keep the conversation going. And as always, photos you share in Google Photos are the same quality as the photos you back up and you can easily save photos shared with you to your library.

Canvas prints: Now, you can decorate your home with your favorite memories with canvas prints from Google Photos —you can order canvas prints from Google Photos in the U.S., and they’ll be delivered straight to your home. Canvas prints start at $19.99 and come in three different sizes, 8×8, 12×14, and 16×20.

Photo prints: Starting today, you can order 4×6 photo prints directly from Google Photos and pick them up the same day at CVS Pharmacy or Walmart, at over 11,000 locations with print centers across the U.S. A leader in the retail photo space, Kodak Moments’ partnership with CVS Pharmacy provides Google Photos users with more than 7,400 printing locations.

Kodak Moments, a leading global provider of photo products and services to retailers, consumers, and entertainment properties, announced today that its technology is underpinning Google Photos’ new print to store experience for CVS Pharmacy locations in the U.S. Consumers will be able to order high-quality prints directly from their Google Photos app for same-day pick up at CVS Pharmacy stores. Google has made this service available through participation in Kodak Moments Prints partner API program.

Launched in 2015, Google Photos serves as the home for photos and videos, helping people store, organize and share their photo and video libraries. Accessible via iOS or Android as well as through Google Photos on web, Google worked with CVS Pharmacy and Kodak Moments to provide customers with the ability to print photos for same day pickup across the U.S., which is powered by Kodak Moments’ vast global retail network and enhanced software technology.
