Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge Are Here – Specs and Details #GalaxyS6

We’ve been waiting and now it’s official; the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge are here. Both phones were officially announced today at Mobile World Congress. Of course here are the specs and the changes we’ve noticed.

From the press release:

Beauty Meets Purpose
Carefully crafted from metal and glass, the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge blend purposeful design with powerful features. The Galaxy S6 edge, particularly, shows unique and outstanding beauty while also providing a solid grip and an immersive viewing experience with the world’s first curved display on both sides. Its glass body, made from the toughest glass to date, Corning® Gorilla Glass® 4, is available in an array of colorful jewel tones, including White Pearl, Black Sapphire, Gold Platinum, Blue Topaz and Green Emerald, which elicit a unique visual texture as it reflects natural light. This timeless design required first-of-its-kind glass crafting technology and unmatched quality control, setting the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge apart from every other mobile device on the market. The premium device aesthetics deliver true value and are complemented by a totally new and lighter interface that greatly enhances usability and functionality. A refined and fully optimized user experience simplifies applications and offers features and settings in a more intuitive way

Samsung Galaxy S6 Specs

Display: 5.1 inch 2560 × 1440 Super AMOLED display (577 PPI)
Cameras: 16 Megapixel rear-facing camera (with OIS) / 5 megapixel front-facing camera
Processor / RAM:  Quad 2.1GHz + Quad 1.5Ghz, Octacore application processor/ 3 GB RAM
Memory: 32GB / 64GB / 128 GB  Internal Memory (no expansion slot)
Battery: 2,550 mAh embedded battery / Wireless Charging
Connectivity : Bluetooth 4.1, Wi-Fi /  NFC / IR Blaster
OS: Android Lollipop 5.0 with TouchWiz
Features:  OIS / Live HDR / Fast Charging / Fingerprint Scanner (no swiping)

The major changes coming to the Galaxy line is the embedded battery and lack of expansion slot. The Galaxy S6 is not water-resistant like the S5. The phone has Gorilla Glass 4 on both the front and the back. You no longer  have to swipe down the home button to unlock your phone, the fingerprint scanner just scans your fingerprint.

I’d like to test out the “Quick Launch” feature that launches the camera with a double click of the home button. I am happy to see the wireless charging feature.

Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge - Analie Cruz

The Galaxy S6 Edge is very similar to the Galaxy S6. It has a bigger battery and a curved display on both sides of the phone. I’d like to see the benefit of having a dual edge screen.
