myCharge Talk & Charge Battery Pack Review (For Micro USB)

The myCharge Talk & Charge battery pack is thin and lightweight. Is this the ideal on-the-go battery pack?

We’re always on the hunt for great tech accessories. Some things are one of a kind, and then there are different variations of other gadgets. A gadget that we can’t get enough of is the portable battery pack. There are so many. Different sizes, capacities, and builds. Today I am reviewing the myCharge Talk & Charge portable battery pack.

Design and Build

The myCharge Talk & Charge battery pack is really thin. It’s only half inch thick. On the top side of the charger, you have the power button with the 4-light indicator. On the border close to the power button, you have a built-in cable. Depending on which model you buy, you will have a micro USB connector or a lightning connector on one corner. On the other corner you have a micro-USB port to charge the myCharge. On  one side of the charger, there are 4 rubber grips to keep the battery pack in place. It has a nice sleek feel to it. Pretty simple and nicely built.

Experience

The Talk and Charge comes charged and ready to use out of the box. That’s pretty good if you’re picking it up in an emergency situation.

The myCharge Talk and Charge is great for a couple of situations. It’s actually two situations I find myself in often. The first situation is when your phone is dying and you need to be on it. A thin battery pack such as the myCharge comes in handy in that situation. The battery pack is small and thin enough to fit behind your phone. It won’t get in the way of your grip or be too heavy for your hands.

The second situation is when I am switching from my techie bag to my small bag and I need a portable battery pack that fits. The myCharge Talk and Charge is great in this situation because it’s thin and it has a built-in cable. Easy to throw in small bag and be out and about.

I wish the Talk & Charge would charge my phone a bit faster at times. That would be the one thing I dislike about it. Not a deal breaker at all. The price may be a little steep for what it offers (3,000 mAh for iPhone and 4,000 mAh for micro USB devices), but I guess you’re paying for the build here. It definitely gets the job done in a non-intrusive way. It’s super easy to tote around. Definitely clutch approved!

Pricing and Availability

The myCharge Talk and Charge is available for both iPhone 5 / 5C / 5S and for devices that charge via MicroUSB. The iPhone version (with built-in 8 pin lightning cable) costs $49.99 and up (depending where you look). The MicroUSB version will cost the same as well. The major difference between the two is that the MicroUSB version has an extra USB port for you to charge a second device with a USB cable.
