Infinix GT 30 Pro 5G Phone – Mobile Gaming on a Budget [Review]

People game on their phones so much now. So of course gaming phones has become its own category. The Infinix GT30 Pro 5G is a budget gaming smartphone. So does the price come with compromises?

DESIGN OF INFINIX GT 30 PRO 5G

While its still a bar phone it definitely has a different aesthetic to it. Infinix calls it Cyber Mecha 2.0. We first saw it on the Infinix GT 20. The laser-etched design on the back of the GT 30 Pro is nice twist without being too over the top. I love when phone companies are changing it up. The right side of the phone has all of the buttons. You have the volume rocker and the power/standby button right below it. On the corners of the right border you have the GT trigger buttons. They are not push buttons, but more sensitive to hard touch and pressure. You use the trigger buttons when gaming on the phone in landscape mode. You can definitely tell its a gaming phone. It runs XOS 15 skin over Android 15.

The 6.78-inch AMOLED display has a 144hz refresh rate with 4500 nits of peak brightness. The glass itself is Corning Gorilla Glass 7i. While I feel the GT30 Pro didn’t always perform at 144hz, it was still rather fluid in motion. Everything from the UI animations to games were not laggy.

Day-to-Day Experience with the Infinix GT 30 Pro

When using this phone I was gaming more than usual to put it through its paces. At first I had to remember to use the triggers since I’m not used to having them on a slab phone. For the most part using the GT 30 Pro was like any other phone. It’s powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8350 Ultimate chipset. This helps with consistency and reliability while gaming rather than super fast speed. Even though it has a large 5,500 mAh battery, the phone is pretty lightweight. The phone never felt dangerously warm or uncomfortable when using it to watch my shows or playing games. The RGB lighting in the back, which Infinix calls “Mechanical Light Waves” can serve as an indicator light for calls and notifications as well as gaming lights.

Yes the phone is plastic, but it doesn’t take too much from the build and its expected for the price. It’s great that a phone at an affordable price feels durable, yet light and still has an IP64 rating.

Of Course There Is AI on the GT 30 Pro

As with any phone in 2025, the GT 30 Pro has AI features. There are a ton of features in the Infinix AI menu. Everything from Call Assistant, Call Summary, to Translation to Circle to Search. You can use their Folax Voice AI assistant or change it to Google Gemini.

CAMERAS ON THE INFINIX GT 30 PRO 5G

While Infinix did put decent cameras on the device, they are not the star of the show. The rear camera array is a simple and functional dual-camera system, featuring a 108MP main sensor and an 8MP ultrawide sensor. The front of the phone houses a 13MP selfie camera. While it can get the job done in indoor lighting, when in low light it starts to struggle and uses “Super Night Mode”. You won’t find optical image stabilization (OIS) on the phone which is a feature mobile photographers love. It can be hit or miss. You can see where it’s needed in low light areas. Sometimes it does a decent job. Theres use of Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS) to smooth out pictures.

Battery Life on the Infinix GT 30 Pro 5G: Made For Gaming

Like I mentioned before, the GT 30 Pro has a large 5,500 mAh battery but it also has a feature called Bypass Charging 2.0 which is pretty cool. With Bypass Charging 2.0, you can plug the phone into the charger and it will take power directly from the charger instead of charging the battery (therefore bypassing the battery). If there’s a game that you can’t put down, this will help you keep gaming.

It charges up to 45W wired and 30W wirelessly. It can even do 5W of reverse wireles charging. Pretty impressive in this price range! I think people would love the Bypass Charging 2.0 feature on regular phones. Can’t beat a phone that “never dies”.

In the event that the phone does overheat there is an accessory to prevent overheating. The Infinix GT Pro Gaming Kit comes with the magnetic case for the Infinix GT Pro 30 phone and the cooling fan. The fan attaches to the back of the magnetic case. It must stay plugged in to work. It does not have battery power.

VERDICT

If you plan on keeping the phone for more than two years, you may think twice before buying the GT 30 Pro as it has only two years of updates. This phone is for the avid mobile gamer. You gets lots of great gaming features for under $350. For teens and tweens who love mobile gaming and enjoy the build of gaming phone along with wireless charging, the action lights and trigger buttons. It’s for the person who enjoys mobile gaming over mobile photography. Definitely a great gaming phone for the money!
