The gift of music is always appreciated. While you may not always be able to gift music itself, you can gift musical gadgets. Here are some gadgets (that I’ve had some hands-on time with, researched, or reviewed) the music lover on your list will love.
Jaybird X2 Earbuds
If you need a pair of durable gym headphones, you can’t go wrong with the Jaybird X2. An upgrade from their BlueBuds X earbuds, the X2 headphones won’t disappoint. With better technology, long-lasting battery, and improved build quality you get an overall better sound. Whether you’re using them for travel or training, the Jaybird X2 are great.
Beats Powerbeats2 Wireless
Beats by Dre first pair of wireless earbuds, the Powerbeats 2 Wireless are my favorite beats headphones. Even though they are wireless they don’t lack volume and bass. For those into the active lifestyle, the ear clip will help keep the Powerbeats in place. They also do a great job of blocking out sound (which is great when at the gym). Available in a variety of colors (there is a new active color set also). Check out the review HERE
Bowers and Wilkins P5 Wireless Headphones
When you hear the B&W name, you know great sound is involved. Bowers and Wilkins doesn’t have many headphones, but they do have tons of experience with premium sound. The B&W P5 were praised by many. Making them wireless is just the next step in making them better. Quality sound and quality material is what Bowers is known for. We hope to get a full review up soon, but based on past experiences with Bowers (P3 and P5 headphones), I’ll say you can’t lose with the P5 Wireless headphones.

SMS Audio Wireless on-ear Wireless Sport headphones
I’ve tested many gym headphones. But they are all earbud. I was happy to review on-ear headphones that were suitable for the gym. The Wireless Sport are not only loud, but easy to use. With controls on the ear cups you barely have to touch your phone to control your music. They do a great job of noise isolation, to keep you focused at the gym. They’re also very comfortable with memory foam ear pads. Available in different colors for different personalities on your shopping list. Check out the review HERE.
Alcatel OneTouch Idol 3 Unlocked Smartphone
I know this isn’t headphones or a speaker, but this phone is great for the gifter on a budget. The Alcatel OneTouch Idol 3 doesn’t skimp on great features because of the price. You get a nice screen, and great cameras at an awesome price. But most importantly for the audiophile, the Idol 3 has front-facing speakers with JBL Clari-Fi technology. What Clari-Fi technology does is restore the true sound from compressed files. I’ve tested it out and it does sound pretty good. You can get the OneTouch Idol 3 in either 4.7″or 5.5″ screen size.
Jabra Sport Pace Wireless Headphones
If the person on your list is starting their fitness journey for the new year, give them the push they need with the Jabra Sports Pace headphones. These headphones are more on the affordable side. Your giftee can use it alongside the Jabra Sport Life app for tracking, and the extra push he/she needs. These earbuds are tested to go the distance and built to withstand exercise in any weather. They are sweat and storm resistance tested to US Military weather and shock standards (IP54 rated). The reflective cord also helps make you visible when running at night.
While many have upgraded to wireless speakers, some have sound systems that have great sound but no wifi capabilities. The Chromecast Audio dongle allows you to stream music to non-wireless speakers. It’s also affordable. You can gift a few of these without breaking the bank. You’ll almost always find deals for a pair of Chromecast Audio dongles if you shop around also.
MagniFi One Soundbar from Polk Audio
If you know someone who binge watches TV without a soundbar, HELP THEM. Give them better sound for there binging. While soundbars are usually expensive, The MagniFi One Soundbar from Polk brings great wireless sound to the living room. Different modes for types of sound (movies, sports, and music), allow for powerful sound. The MagniFi Soundbar also comes with a subwoofer for that extra bass punch. Both the soundbar and subwoofer aren’t too largeeither, so it won’t take up too much space.
Logitech UE Roll
A nice little speaker your giftee can use year round is always good. The water-resistant Roll from Ultimate Ears, blasts big sound for long periods of time. Use it in the kitchen or shower and not worry about splashes messing it up. Take it with you to the beach during the summer, and not worry about the sand blocking the sound. If the person on your list enjoys booming sound (and you’re willing to spend more money on them), try out the MegaBoom from Ultimate Ears. The speaker gives 36o sound at amazing volume and clarity.
Plantronics BackBeat Pro Headphones
For your giftee who is always on the go, the BackBeat Pro is a definitely a go. It’s a win due to its full sound, sensor, and microphone. The battery is great also. It lasts forever and sleeps when the headphones aren’t in use (even if they’re on). If you don’t like the over-ear headphones look and feel, you can opt for the BackBeat Sense; their on-ear model . This isn’t just a speaker. With the Echo, you get a speaker that doubles as your home / office assistant. The Echo is always connected. What does that mean? You can ask her for answers at any time. The Echo has far-field recognition to hear you from across the room. Echo is essential in unifying the smart home. Controls lights and switches with compatible WeMo, Philips Hue, Samsung SmartThings, Wink, Insteon, and other connected devices. But of course it also plays your music.
