I’ve been hooked to the Google Chromecast ever since it debuted 3 years ago. If a device isn’t cast ready, I have purchased Chromecasts for them. Google re-did the Google Chromecast this year. It looks better but still provides the same great features and functionality. This is great for those older TVs that you want to add smart TV functions to.
How Does the Chromecast Work?
What’s great about the Chromecast is that it’s so easy to set up. You plug it into one of the HDMI ports on the television and finish the setup with the Google Home app. The app walks you through the process which makes it a breeze to set up. You will need to connect to your wireless network. If your TV has HDMI ports, you can use a Chromecast with it.

Google Chromecast Features
- Streaming – The Chromecast works with streaming apps like Netflix, Hulu, YouTube TV, and HBO Now. It’s easy to cast. Just tap the cast button on your phone, and pick from the available options. - Voice Control – A feature has come is voice control. You can now use Google Assistant with the Google Chromecast to tell it what to play and where. Saying “Ok Google” will activate the Google Assistant. For example, you can say Ok Google, play Stranger Things from Netflix on my living room TV.
