For those of you who travel often, you understand how important it is to protect your gadgets. Gadgets are great companions for all trips. Whether long flights or short commutes on public transportation, gadgets make our trips enjoyable and tolerable.

If you’ve read any of my previous posts, you know how much of a klutz I am and how I am always on the hunt for protective cases for my gadgets. While I feel comfort in protecting my gadgets, I also need the cases to fit nicely in my bag or just fit at all.

For the past couple of weeks I have been using sleeves to carry certain gadgets around. While there isn’t too much you can say about sleeves and bags, there are some notable features that consumers are looking for. I have been using the  Laptop and Tablet Sleeves from the Eagle Creek Pack-It System.

The Eagle Creek Pack-It System is made of many folders, sleeves, and bags. They come together to keep your packing neatly organized. While they are heavily focused on the travel side of things, the laptop sleeves from Eagle Creek are pretty great accessories.

I have been using the laptop sleeve and tablet sleeve lately. I have been toting the Microsoft Surface Pro 3 on long days and for short commutes I have been using my Nexus 7 tablet.

Eagle Creek Pack-It System –  Sleeve Experience

The laptops coming out today are thinner and thinner. Also, many of them have touch screens. They require even more protection. For the most part, the Surface Pro 3 stays in place when in my bag and there are no cases that are exactly for it, so sleeves are the next best thing. The Eagle Creek laptop sleeve is very light, so it won’t add extra weight to your bag / carry-on. The sleeve is made to fit 13 inch laptops, but they do have one thats big enough to fit 15 inch laptops.

The Specter sleeves have a power port that allow you to charge your devices while they remain protected. That’s if you can reach the port from where it’s available on the tablet. It’s made from breathable material to keep the device from overheating and also making it easy to clean.

The only con about the sleeves is that there’s a bit of room around the laptop. Some might not like that extra breathing space and if you buy the sleeve too large it isn’t safe for your device. The 13″ sleeve fits my Surface Pro 3 just right (it has the magnetic keyboard attached).

I used the tablet sleeve for my 7″ Nexus  7 tablet. Depending on what case you may have, the Pack-It tablet sleeve may fit a bit tight around the tablet. I have a standard protective case which allowed the tablet to fit in nicely.
