It’s summer time (Well at least in the northeast)! While that means fun in the sun, barbecues, and vacations it also means a time to practice safe driving (even more than usual. Memorial Day is the start of the “100 Deadliest Days of Driving” for teens. That’s a pretty scary number. I am all for technology helping ensure safety. Here’s a bit more about Hum by Verizon:
What is Hum by Verizon?
Hum is an easy-to-install gadget that allows nearly any car from 1996 and up to become a bit of a smart car. Hum makes the car a connected car. It gives the car smart-car features with state of the art technology. The features include speed and boundary alerts, monitoring of vehicle location (that includes assistance with stolen vehicles), diagnostics, a mechanics hotline, and even emergency roadside assistance.

With Hum you can set boundary alerts on your teen to make sure they’re going to the place they said they were going to You can get text messages if your teen decides to go somewhere else or if they are going over a speed limit you’re not comfortable with. Even if you’re a driver with many years of experience, you can enjoy the connected services that Hum brings your car.
To help increase safety and awareness for teenage drivers, Verizon announced that now through Aug. 31, when family members purchase hum for their newly licensed teen, they’ll receive a credit back for the equipment fee, activation fee and the first three months of service.
