Wireless charging pads bring convenience and a clean look to your setup. With so many devices now going wireless, a multi-device wireless charging pad is ideal for me. I used the mophie 3-in-1 wireless charging pad and I think it’s a great addition to a clean setup.
Design
The mophie 3-in-1 wireless charging pad looks like your usual charging mats with rounded corners. There are two versions of the charging pad. I got the fabric version (there’s a glass mat version). The mat has a port to attach the dongle to charge the Apple Watch. The dongle goes in firmly and stays sturdy. No wiggle room. You don’t need to use your apple watch charger cable for the mat. The watch charging stand works with the mat. The part of the mat that’s in front of the apple watch charger, has an indented space created for the Apple AirPods.
On the backside of the mat, you have the adaptor port for power. Very simple and clean. Unfortunately, the adaptor isn’t USB-c, and it’s shaped to fill the slot perfectly, making it difficult, if not impossible to replace.
Experience
You plug the power cable into the back of the mat, plug the power supply in and you start placing your devices. There’s not much to it. I don’t have the AirPods with the wireless charging case, but I do have a pair of Soundcore Liberty 2 Pro Truly Wireless Earbuds that also have a wireless-charging case and it works really well. The Apple Watch charging stand is elevated, allowing you to use nightstand mode, and the screen won’t be blocked by the headphones.
When it comes to the right side of the charging mat, it still takes me a bit to find the sweet spot. Since it’s suede, the phone doesn’t slide around, so once I place it, it stays. Of course, if you have AirPods and you place them on the slot, they fit perfectly and start charging right away.
As expected, charging devices wirelessly takes longer than charging them via the charging cable directly. When it comes to charging the phone, expect it to take two to three hours. Things with way smaller batteries, such as earbuds, charge completely in 45 minutes to an hour. I want the next-gen of this charging pad to have a stand for your phone or at least the option of adding one. It’s useful for charging your phone during the day, which I do often. Rarely do I charge my phone at night. I also wish the cord was longer. It would help with placing the mat nicely on the desk setup.
Verdict
I love the 3-in-1 charging pad, it makes life a lot easier. At a price point of over $120, it’s hard to justify the purchase completely. If you know the mophie brand, you know that you’re getting a reliable, sturdy, long-lasting charging pad. If you do decide to splurge on it, you won’t be disappointed. It’s great to have one-stop to charge your daily devices.
