Now, we all know how much I love a good gaming headset. I play games while I’m on the go and I also play at home. But if you are like me and have a long commute to and from work, you look for a headset that you can use to listen to music, play games, and watch movies on the go.
Some of the gaming headsets are way too big for people to walk outside with, but we do it just to have that high-quality sound that we have become accustomed to with gaming headsets. So when I saw that LucidSound has a headset that doesn’t look like your classic gaming headset, I thought this would be a great opportunity to see if the LS20 could be my happy medium.
LucidSound LS20 Design
When I first saw the LS20, I didn’t think they were actually gaming headsets, they don’t fit the typical design profile. You know what I’m talking about, the XXL ear cups, and the thick headbands. You will also see that the LucidSound headset offers something different.
The LS20 comes with aluminum sides which consist of soft pleather material on the earcups, the headband also consists of the same material but with a quilted design – giving the headset a classy look.
LucidSound LS20 Features
The LucidSound LS20 comes with a couple of cool features. All of your controls are on your earcups. On the left side is where you will find the Power/LED Mode, USB Charging Port, 3.5mm Port, Microphone Port, along with your Volume and Audio Mute controls. On the right side, you have your Bass Boost (which gives you a more enhanced and powerful sound) and Mic Mute controls and the EQ button that allows you to control the bass boost.
In the box, you will find a Boom Mic with LED, USB Charging Cable, 3.5mm Cable and two Mic Port Covers. While using your mobile device, you can answer calls, mute, play and pause your music, and control your volume. You can remove the boom mic and use the integrated mic when using your mobile device.
The LS20 has built-in rechargeable batteries. I was able to use the headset for a little over 20 hours before charging. This is a lifesaver when you’re running out the house with your headset hoping you have enough power to get you through the day.
The LS20 looks beautiful, but what about the sound? The sound has become so important to players. So many times you can hear your enemy before you can actually see them. During gameplay -I was truly impressed with the sound quality, I could hear my teammates without any interruptions.
So what makes the LS20 have such a prestige sound? Maybe it’s the 40mm speakers with neodymium magnets that give the headset such a deep bass and perfect clarity.
Now that we have covered that the sound is better than what I expected, what about the Mic? We’ve all had headsets that give us the best sound, but when it comes to the Mic quality – it wouldn’t match-up. I would get my teammates saying “What did you say?” Or, “I can’t hear anything you are saying, you sound like you’re eating the mic.”
While using the LS20, I didn’t run into those problems – my teammates said they heard me with no problem, and I was clear. The headset offers players a removable boom mic, but you also have an integrated mic, which is hidden, this makes the headset perfect to use outside of console and PC gaming.
Final Thoughts on the LS20
When it comes down to it, the LucidSound LS20 is a great headset for gaming and listening to music. The set-up is quick and simple, battery life is perfect for those long hours of gaming, or if you are on a long trip listening to music.
I love the fact that you can have a choice to use the detachable mic for gaming, and/or can use the built in the mic for phone calls when out and about. Both work perfectly for all of the above, it’s just nice to have the option.
With the LS20 being so comfortable, having great quality sound, and a long lasting battery is one of the most versatile gaming headsets you will own.
